10 Things About Me

I was challenged to write 10 things about myself as an easy way for people to get to know me better. So here, in no particular order, are some facts about me, Gerald Douglas... aka Jerry.

1. I was born and raised in Canada. I love my home country and visit at least once a year... usually in the Summer, for obvious reasons. I moved to the USA when I was 24 and became a US Citizen in 2021... on Canada Day no less. So yes, that makes me a dual citizen.

2. I am a diehard hockey fan... duh! My favorite team is the Tampa Bay Lightning. I was in the building when they won their first Stanley Cup in 2004. I cried. I'm also a huge fan of the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team and have seen them play twice live.

3. I met my wife on a blind date. We met while attending the University of New Brunswick. We both have bachelors degrees in science. We've been married for over 24 years.

4. I love to travel. I've been to eleven different countries and twenty one States. My favorite places were New Zealand and the Netherlands. I have driven from Maine to Florida eight times!

5. I have a son named Liam and we spoil him rotten! However, he deserves it as he's an amazing kid and gets phenomenal grades in the honor's program.

6. My family and I are DISNEY FANATICS!!! We have annual passes to Walt Disney World and go almost every week. We've also been to Disneyland and are frequent passengers on the Disney Cruise Line. I'm also a certified Disney travel agent.

7. Before I was a photographer, I was a graphic artist for over ten years. I have worked for a number of different ad agencies and in-house marketing departments. It was this passion for art that led me to photography.

8. I used to do a lot of acting in theatre productions. Comedies were my favorite as I was at one time a stand-up comedian. This is handy when helping my clients feel at-ease while being photographed. A few jokes can easily lighten any situation.

9. I love animals. We've had a number of pets over the years including two cats and two greyhound dogs. Sadly, our last pet cat recently passed away at seventeen.

10. I am a big fan of the Dave Matthews Band. My wife and I have seen them in concert 15 times. My son is also a fan and has seen them 5 times. I have a tattoo of their Firedancer logo on my forearm.
